Moody speakeasy bar interior at night, rows of backlit liquor bottles glowing brass-amber against near-black shadow

Members' Ledger · No. 000

The house keeps a ledger.
Your name goes in it.

A speakeasy of ledgered cocktails, kept off the record. Behind an unmarked brass door in Bengaluru, each drink is entered by hand, poured low and slow — and forgotten by morning.

Reservations only · Wednesday to Sunday · From 7 in the evening

The Story

A bar that would rather not be found

In the winter of 2019, a retired auditor and a stubborn bartender took a lease on a forgotten cellar off Richmond Road — the kind of room the city had quietly misplaced. They kept the ledger she'd used for thirty years and repurposed it: no debits, no credits, only cocktails, entered one by one in a careful hand.

There is no signage. There is no menu online. Every guest who passes the brass door earns a line in the book — a number, a name, a drink — and the promise that whatever is said inside stays there. We keep twelve seats and a long memory.

  • 12seats, per sitting
  • 37spirits on the back bar
  • 0walk-ins, ever

The Signature Block

The Cocktail Ledger

Each drink is recorded the night it is poured — number, name, spirit and the notes our keeper scratched in the margin. Ask for one by its entry.

  1. 01 The First Entry Rye whiskey Burnt orange, black walnut bitters, oleo saccharum. Stirred cold, served naked. ₹850
  2. 02 Off The Record Aged rum Molasses, smoked cardamom, a whisper of spent coffee. Dark and unhurried. ₹780
  3. 03 The Silent Partner Botanical gin Cucumber ash, dry vermouth, torn bay leaf. Bracing, clean, secretive. ₹820
  4. 04 Oxblood & Oath Smoky mezcal Hibiscus, an oxblood reduction, kaffir lime leaf. Deep red, a little dangerous. ₹880
  5. 05 Ledger No. 9 Aged cognac Fig, saffron, tawny port. Our most requested line — worth the wait for the pour. ₹950
  6. 06 The Accountant's Sour Bourbon Palm jaggery, tamarind, egg white. Balanced to the last decimal. ₹800
  7. 07 Midnight Audit Peated scotch Wild honey, clove smoke, a single ember of orange. Poured near closing. ₹920
  8. 08 The Velvet Line Craft vodka Blackberry, violet, dry sparkling. The lightest entry in the book. ₹760

Prices in Indian Rupees, inclusive of the house pour. A non-alcoholic ledger is kept for the sober-curious — ask your keeper. Government taxes as applicable.

The Keeper of the Ledger

Ravindra "Ravi" Menon

Head Bartender & Founding Partner

For fifteen years Ravi worked the late shift across Bengaluru's quietest bars before opening his own. He learned classical technique from a Tokyo ice-carver and the value of a good margin note from his co-founder's old audit ledgers. He pours by feel, remembers your last order, and will never tell you it's on the house.

"A cocktail is just a promise you can taste. Write it down, and you have to keep it."

— Ravi, with Aisha Qureshi, Proprietor

Entries in the Margin

What the regulars keep coming back to say

"You knock, you wait, and then the whole city goes quiet on the other side of that door. I've never wanted to leave a bar less."

Naina R. — Indiranagar

"The only ledger in Bengaluru I'm genuinely happy to have my name in. The Accountant's Sour is a religious experience."

Karan D. — journalist & regular

"Low light, impossibly high craft. Ravi remembered a drink I'd ordered eight months earlier. That's the whole trick, isn't it?"

Meera S. — chef
