It started with one over-full vegetable basket.
In 2019 our founder was living above a Fontainhas provisions shop, buying more than she could ever eat from the growers who set up along Rua de Ourem at dawn. The tomatoes were sweeter than anything shipped in, the drumstick leaves greener — and most of it was cooked as a sideline to something else.
Cress & Clover began as a stubborn question: what if the vegetable was the point? We opened a six-table room, wrote the menu around whatever the monsoon and the tide allowed, and refused to hide any of it behind imitation meat. Everything is plant-based, most of it grows within a short drive, and none of it apologises for being a vegetable.
